POSITION OVERVIEW

Waypoint is seeking a Learning and Development Specialist to support the training and development of our Auto Insurance team. This role will focus on designing, delivering, and refining training programs that equip auto brokers with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed. Working closely with leadership and managers, the Specialist will develop role-specific learning initiatives, ensure new hires receive comprehensive onboarding, and provide ongoing education on products, systems, and regulatory changes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of auto insurance, a passion for employee development, and the ability to create engaging, results-driven learning experiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training Programs

  • Partner with Auto business leaders to assess learning needs and develop comprehensive training programs aimed at enhancing employee skills, knowledge, and performance.
  • Design and deliver engaging and interactive learning experiences using a range of methodologies, including instructor-led training, e-learning modules, workshops, and on-the-job training.
  • Identify and utilize external resources, such as industry experts, workshops, and online courses, to supplement internal training offerings and ensure a well-rounded development approach.

Content Creation

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning initiatives through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics, and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to employees to reinforce learning objectives and enhance the application of new skills and knowledge.

Process Improvement

  • Conduct reviews of product terms and conditions, ensuring accuracy and preventing errors and omissions.
  • Support the local hiring needs by partnering with Human Resources and the business leaders to drive talent acquisition plans and talent pools
  • Maintain a pipeline of all talent attraction activity, and generate recruitment metrics to monitor performance and ensure all activity is aligned with organizational goals

Industry Trends & DEI

  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in learning and development, proactively sharing knowledge and insights with stakeholders to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of training programs.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the learning and development function, ensuring that training content and delivery methods are inclusive and accessible to all employees.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, human resources, organizational development, or a related field.
  • A BC Insurance License is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in learning and development, talent development, or a related role.
  • Experience designing and delivering training programs in a corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning authoring tools.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
