Xplore is seeking a proven Wireless Design leader with strong experience in RF and Radio Access Network engineering.
As the Director of our Wireless Design team, you will lead a team responsible for the engineering of the Wireless network, Wireless Configuration management and Wireless Network Standards. Operational services provided by the team include: Wireless Network Plans, Project sequencing, Solution Design Acceptance & Engineering documents.
Through close collaboration and communication with the Strategy, Build, and Operation teams, you will drive the execution of the Wireless network modernization and expansion while maintaining the highest performance and capacity standards.
This position will report to the VP, Network Strategy & Design.

Key responsibilities include:


• Lead the Wireless Design Team through RAN Access network planning and design to ensure deliverables are met on time with a high level of quality.

• Drive the development of tools and integrations that enable seamless interoperability of workflows used by teams collaborating in large network build programs

• Development of processes to ensure thorough documentation of the wireless network standards and processes

• Detailed engineering records management such as wireless coverage, radio configuration, Spectrum usage and related network components to inform broader business in terms of coverage and capability availability.

• Work Closely with Network Strategy strategic planning function to incorporate business goals into deliverables.

• Just in time Capacity planning to ensure Access network congestion targets are proactively maintained while costs are well sequenced based on precision level planning.

• Microwave Backhaul design evolution based on capacity projections and reliability requirements set fourth in architecture policies.

• Support regulatory consultations that impact spectrum policy.

• Deliver results through factory model approach from Standards, to Planning to Detailed RF design and configuration/translations to activate and engineering acceptance changes to the network.

• Deliver design standards through test and verification while focusing on continuous process improvement. Issue detailed documentation and communication with other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will possess:


• Completion of Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Engineering or a related discipline. Master degree preferred

• Proven track record leading a Wireless Design Team.

• Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, interference mitigation, wireless or broadband/LTE/5G

• Advanced knowledge of MIMO / Antennas / small cells / RF components / Propagation modelling / call processing / performance KPIs and RAN features (carrier aggregation, load balancing, spectrum sharing, etc.)

• Ability to develop advanced concepts, techniques, and standards for RF design, planning and implementations

• Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge in IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS) Solid skills in understanding low level technical standards (3GPP / FCC / ISED)

• Expert level of radios, propagation, RF safety EMF / SC6, intermodulation, filtering and site accessories

• Hands-on experience with performance management, RF optimization, and capacity planning of LTE & 5G networks
