About Girls* On Ice Canada:

Girls* On Ice Canada offers transformative, tuition-free outdoor science expeditions for high school girls. Our goal is to empower young women by integrating science, art, and outdoor exploration, fostering their curiosity and confidence in STEM fields. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Fundraising and Sponsorship Manager to help us secure the funding necessary to expand and enhance our programs.


Position Overview:

The Fundraising and Sponsorship Manager will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy. This includes creating compelling pitch decks, identifying and targeting potential corporate partners, reaching out to prospective sponsors, following up, and negotiating sponsorship agreements. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fundraising, business development, or corporate partnerships, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.


Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy Development:

  • Develop a strategic fundraising plan to meet financial targets.
  • Identify potential corporate sponsors, partners, and donors aligned with our mission and values.


Pitch Deck and Proposal Creation:

  • Design and create engaging pitch decks and sponsorship proposals tailored to different audiences.
  • Articulate the mission, impact, and benefits of partnering with Girls* on Ice Canada.


Outreach and Engagement:

  • Conduct research to identify and prioritize potential corporate sponsors.
  • Initiate contact and build relationships with decision-makers at targeted companies.
  • Schedule and conduct meetings and presentations with prospective sponsors.


Follow-Up and Negotiation:

  • Maintain regular follow-up communication with potential sponsors.
  • Negotiate terms and secure sponsorship agreements.
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with sponsorship agreements.
  • Write sponsorship contracts and onboarding documents on contract are signed.
  • Transfer all information concerning the contracts to the Program Administrator.


Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Work closely with the Program Administrator and fundraising team to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on progress, challenges, and successes to the Program Administrator.
  • Create a knowledge-transfer document, and contact list, and plan for a longer-term fundraising strategy in collaboration with our Program Administrator.


Compensation:

The total budget for this contract is up to $15,000 for the contract period. This amount is intended to cover all aspects of the role, including strategy development, outreach, negotiation, and securing sponsorship agreements.


Suggested Timeline and Deliverables:

Month 1:

  • Develop and finalize the fundraising strategy.
  • Create initial pitch decks and sponsorship proposals.
  • Begin outreach to a targeted list of potential sponsors.


Months 2-3:

  • Conduct meetings and presentations with prospective sponsors.
  • Follow up and begin negotiations with interested parties.
  • Secure initial sponsorship agreements.


Months 4-5:

  • Continue outreach and engagement efforts.
  • Finalize and document sponsorship agreements.
  • Develop a sustainable follow-up and relationship management plan for sponsors.


Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, business development, corporate partnerships, or related roles.
  • Proven track record of securing corporate sponsorships and partnerships.
  • Knowledge of companies operating in the STEM, outdoors, and environmental fields is highly desirable.


Skills:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficient in creating compelling pitch decks and sponsorship proposals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Comfortable with LinkedIn.
  • Comfortable with Canva, Powerpoint, Word.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or a related field is preferred.
