Carbon Solutions Group (CSG) is a distributed decarbonization platform that was founded in Chicago Illinois in 2006, and consists of four business lines; Upstream, Environmental Credit Aggregation, DirtRoad Electric Vehicle Charging, and Wholesale ESG services. CSG has a proprietary customer onboarding platform that has onboarded in excess of 30,000 solar customers. Wholesale ESG has transacted in excess of 150 Million MWh’s of environmental attributes since 2017.


Role Overview

This is a full-time remote role for a Carbon Analyst. As a Carbon Projects Analyst at Carbon Solutions Group (CSG), you will play a crucial role in building our carbon offset projects portfolio and managing ongoing implementation of carbon quantification and sustainability initiatives with our partnerships and clients. Your expertise in greenhouse gas emissions accounting, industry regulations, sustainability standards, and industrial operations will enable you to assist with data management and analysis, report preparation, and research. You will report to the Manager, Environmental Markets and work in CSG’s sustainability division.


Key Responsibilities

  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to greenhouse gas emissions accounting, offset project development, reporting, and quantification methods.
  • Develop thought leadership content, whitepapers, and webinars to showcase our expertise in carbon for prospective partnerships and clients.
  • Conduct detailed assessments of emissions and measured data, site operations, and program requirements.
  • Perform detailed data analysis including application of scientific principles, engineering concepts, and statistical analysis.
  • Gain detailed knowledge of voluntary GHG program workings and requirements, such as GHG Protocol, Verra, Gold Standard, and other compliance systems.
  • Assist with developing templates, checklists, reports, and memoranda to support the development and implementation of offset projects.


Qualifications

  • Data analysis, modeling, and reporting skills
  • Knowledge of carbon emissions and sustainability practices
  • Experience in developing strategies for carbon reduction
  • Familiarity with renewable energy and electric vehicle charging development
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and remotely
  • Background in environmental science, sustainability, or related field


A successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes

  • Bachelor of Science, Engineering, Agronomy, Biology or a similar field preferred
  • 1-3 minimum years of relevant work experience
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis and mathematical modeling / forecasting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Strong interest in renewables, carbon, and climate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Proficiency in Hubspot or similar CRM software advantageous
  • Previous knowledge of carbon and GHG science, concepts, and programs an asset
  • Familiarity with forestry and agriculture systems an asset
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Masters degree preferred
