Canada Atlantic Hydrogen Alliance Full time

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director of the Atlantic Hydrogen Alliance (AHA) will provide strategic and operational leadership to support the success of the AHA as a member-funded not-for-profit organization. The Executive Director will be the voice of the hydrogen industry in the Atlantic region and will work closely with Pathfinder Group and the AHA Executive Committee to fulfill the mission and achieve the goals of the organization.


The Executive Director is responsible for:

Membership Development & Engagement:

  • Recruit new members.
  • Plan engagement opportunities for AHA members.
  • Develop an annual event calendar, including meetings, workshops, training sessions, webinars, and conferences.


Marketing and Communications:

  • Develop and execute annual marketing and communications plans.
  • Plan and organize AHA events (i.e. webinars, conferences, member meetings).


Advocacy and Public Speaking:

  • Develop insights from government, industry, and other energy stakeholders to inform AHA's initiatives and activities.
  • Build relationships and advocate with key government and industry stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for development of the clean hydrogen industry in Atlantic Canada.
  • Speak publicly on behalf of the AHA to advocate for and educate the general public and key stakeholders on the benefits of developing the clean hydrogen sector in Atlantic Canada.


Strategic Leadership and Governance:

  • Identify and pursue project and operational funding opportunities for the AHA.
  • Adhere to established by-laws, policies, and the AHA’s governance model.
  • Regularly update the AHA Executive Committee on progress on key priorities and activities.
  • Manage AHA working groups and committees as established by the Board of Directors.
  • Develop the annual operating budget in collaboration with the Board.


The ideal candidate will be an effective, optimistic leader with experience in the development, launch, and management of new programs and/or organizations. You have knowledge of the energy industry, a keen interest in the hydrogen sector, and established relationships with stakeholders in the hydrogen market. You have a track record of progressive experience in leading and managing projects, including planning, organizing, and coordinating activities to achieve project goals. You are proactive, self-motivated and like to work independently with limited supervision.


You are an excellent communicator and relationship builder who can establish and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, including organization members, government officials, industry representatives, and community partners. You have experience in developing and implementing strategies to engage and retain members, ensuring their active participation and satisfaction.


With strong financial and business acumen, you can develop and manage budgets. Ideally, you have experience working with volunteer boards and non-profit governance. You are willing to travel mostly within Atlantic Canada, but sometimes nationally and internationally to represent the AHA.


Annual Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000
