An Excellent Communicator – You will be collaborating with our internal teams, members of the community, and people with intellectual disabilities. Your communication style must be confident, reassuring, and clear.


Interpersonal Skills You bring with you the ability to quickly build rapport with Mentor Coordinators, parents, and individuals with intellectual disabilities.


Independent – You are self-motivated and manage your time well. As an employee who travels and rotates between your home and office, you must be able to effectively work with minimal supervision

 

The Position:


The Manager, Student Links is critically important to CLO. You will provide leadership and support to 10 Mentor Coordinators across Ontario ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed. Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible for day-to-day operations and building and maintaining relationships with the team, school boards, community organizations, parents, and students.

Responsibilities Include:


  • Support Mentor Coordinators to successfully explore students’ interests in community and offer guidance on finding suitable community mentors and developing meaningful mentorship relationships.
  • Coach Coordinators in their role with students by imagining valued social roles and developing community focused plans that result in positive outcomes. In-person visits with the team are required across the province.
  • Support Coordinators in developing strategies around recruitment, mentor support, and building community-focused mentorship opportunities.
  • Ensure Coordinators have all administrative requirements completed, accurate, and on time. This includes data reporting, expense reporting, and schedules.
  • Establish peer mentoring strategies and provide training and ongoing support. 
  • Monitor the reporting database ensuring data is accurate and complete.
  • Organizes and Co-Lead virtual and in-person team meetings and trainings.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources in the hiring process of Coordinators and maintains accurate job descriptions.
  • Responsible for onboarding, staff training, and individual professional development plans. 
  • Facilitate presentations, meetings, and introductions to key regional contacts including member organizations.
  • Offer support and outreach to students and families over the course of their engagement in Student Links.


What Makes You the Ideal Candidate?


  • Post-secondary degree or College diploma in Social Services or a combination of related education and experience
  • 3+ years of similar management experience. Proven success in mentoring and facilitating team members.  Managing in a unionized environment an asset
  • Advanced computer skills – MS Office, Zoom, MS Teams, and CRMs,
  • Ability to inspire and motivate members of the community to build long term mutually beneficial relationships. Leadership and relationship management skills are essential.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to optimizing the work and compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Experience building community networks and working with youth in the school system.
  • Strong understanding and awareness of barriers facing people with disabilities and implementing strategies that may be used to combat those barriers.
  • Proven ability to network and connect with people.
  • Superior communication skills both oral and written, combined with the ability to break down complex information into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand communications. Comfortable making presentations.
  • Experience working in a non-profit organization or with a member based not-for-profit would be an asset.
  • Written and verbal French skills are an asset.

Mandatory Requirements:


  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required for frequent travel within Ontario.

  • Occasional evening and weekend work required.
