About this role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Test Engineering Manager to lead our test development and test execution teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with specific expertise in transformers, PDUs, STS, and UPS systems up to 2.5MW. The Test Engineering Manager will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving our test bay and overseeing maintenance, equipment, and scheduling. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Manage and lead both the test development team and the test execution team.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve the test bay to ensure efficient and effective testing processes.
  • Oversee test bay maintenance, equipment, and scheduling to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Ensure that all testing activities are conducted in accordance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including quality assurance and manufacturing, to ensure seamless integration of testing processes.
  • Implement and maintain test automation frameworks to improve testing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to testing activities and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, including UL1778, FCC Part 15, IEC 62040, and other applicable standards
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for high-power UPS systems (around 2MVA), including functional, performance, qualification, certification, compliance, and reliability testing.
  • Prepare detailed test reports, including methodologies, results, and any identified issues or deviations.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in testing technology and testing methodologies.


Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on testing and validation of power electronics.
  • Experience with test bay development and maintenance.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing test development and test execution teams.
  • Strong knowledge of transformers, PDUs, STS, and UPS systems up to 2.5MW.
  • Extensive experience with test automation and related tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices related to electrical testing, including UL/CSA/CE/FCC certification processes.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
  • Experience with EMI troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Test Stand, LabVIEW, Python, and database management.
  • Ability to travel to international destinations and maintain a valid passport for international travel.


Working Conditions:

  • This role is in an office environment, with regular visits to the manufacturing environment
  • Must be available for business travel to locations in Canada, USA, and Europe. (0 - 15%)
