Supply Chain Director

The Director of Supply Chain oversees the strategic direction and operational efficiency of all Supply Chain activities within the organization, encompassing 3PL, retail distribution operations as well as inbound/outbound and ecommerce shipping. This entails managing relationships with providers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-efficient product delivery and movement of stock. With P&L responsibility, the role involves budgeting, risk management, forecasting, and planning.


Responsibilities


  • Develop & oversee logistic processes, implementing ongoing improvement plans & strategies
  • Cultivate a robust partnership with third party distribution providers and internal stakeholders
  • Spearhead and implement continuous improvement efforts with third party distribution providers
  • Create or enhance S&OP process for better forecast accuracy and customer service levels
  • Oversees the growth and management of the Ecommerce program
  • Direct and manage budgeting and forecasting activities for the department
  • Oversee inbound and outbound freight and customs management and execution
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and training to direct and indirect reports
  • Ensure relationships with ground and ocean carriers are well maintained, and service levels are consistent
  • Manage 3rd party relationships; primarily with transportation providers but also distribution and freight payment providers
  • Manage final mile delivery to customers to maximize customer experience while maintaining budgets
  • Partner with the other department teams to ensure proper execution for all transportation requirements
  • Initiate comprehensive RFP’s to optimize transport budget and service quality
  • Support Finance to ensure accurate and timely information is provided to facilitate payment of carriers and metric reporting
  • Execute Service Levels as required by the business
  • Address and resolve any issues from internal and external customers in a timely fashion
  • Develop and monitor metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
  • Improve Business Intelligence to identify further opportunities to enhance service and reduce costs


Experience, Qualifications & Attributes


  • BS/BA in Business Administration or major in related curriculum
  • 5 plus years of distribution and transportation management experience
  • Experience with customs brokers, transportation/logistics providers and partnership with 3PL’s
  • CITT designation an asset
  • ERP experience is required, training in Dynamics D365 considered an asset
  • Solid skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Highly developed interpersonal, analytical and conflict resolution skills; and the ability to develop solid internal and external relationships.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interface with company, vendors and service providers senior management.
  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, verbal and written communication skills
  • Committed to 100% accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy
  • High energy level with a strong work ethic
  • Strong sense of urgency in dealing with business and staff needs
