Our client specializes in large-scale electrical, automation, and controls projects. They are currently looking for an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join their team in Pickering.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review technical design documentation.
  • Determine optimal automation solution to meet customers' needs and provide costing to project management team.
  • Lead and/or assist on Proposal Generation for key opportunities.
  • Travel to client sites for installation and commissioning support when required.
  • Strong understanding of cost and schedule management, delegation of work to a team and managing performance to deliver projects aligned with customers expectation.
  • Monitor progress of projects and maintain costs within budget.
  • Instrumentation and control system design while staying current with technology trends.
  • PLC/HMI programming and commissioning.
  • VFD troubleshooting, programming and commissioning.
  • Provide on-going support for customers.
  • Periodically generating work through business development
  • Assist and periodically lead Junior and Intermediate Engineers in assembling panels in our panel shop.
  • Develop SCADA solutions tailored to customers needs.
  • Design and program systems from scratch.


Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of five (5) years as a Senior Controls Engineer or equivalent
  • AutoCAD Electrical knowledge to prepare drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley, Siemens, Rockwell, and Mitsubishi PLCs
  • Experience working on projects for various industries.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical and electronic instrumentations.
  • Ability to prioritize work and deal with conflicts professionally in order to meet deadlines.
