Senior Business Development Manager – Canada (Renewables Focus)

About the Role:

Are you a seasoned business development professional with a passion for renewable energy? We’re representing a leading U.S.-based Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) company that is expanding its operations into Canada. This company is a major player in the renewable energy sector, and they are looking for a dynamic Senior Business Development Manager to lead their growth strategy in the Canadian market.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Expansion: Develop and execute a business development strategy to establish and grow the client’s footprint in the Canadian renewables market.
  • Client Relationships: Identify and engage with key stakeholders, including potential clients, partners, and government agencies, to establish and nurture long-term relationships.
  • Project Pipeline Development: Build and manage a pipeline of opportunities for renewable energy projects, ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with local and international partners to enhance service offerings and deliver value-added solutions to clients.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to understand regional trends, regulatory environments, and competitive landscapes, providing actionable insights.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations with clients and partners to secure contracts that align with business goals and ensure successful project execution.
  • Cross-Border Collaboration: Work closely with the U.S.-based team to align Canadian operations with global strategies, ensuring seamless integration and operational efficiency.
  • Brand Building: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance brand recognition and establish the company as a leader in the Canadian renewable energy market.


What You Bring:

  • Experience: 7+ years of business development experience, with a proven track record in the renewable energy sector, particularly within the Canadian market.
  • Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the Canadian renewable energy landscape, including market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and key industry players.
  • Network: An established network of industry contacts in Canada, including utilities, developers, government bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and lead at all levels.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Drive: A self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, ready to take on the challenge of building a new market from the ground up.
  • Passion: A genuine commitment to sustainable energy and the drive to make a meaningful impact in the industry.
