Interim Vice President, Account Management
Reports To: President/CEO
Duration: 12-14 months
Location: North York, ON (in-office)
Our client is a complex, Canadian B2B services organization whose main customers are retail and consumer goods companies. Due to a period of strong growth and a new strategy to diversify they are now looking for an experienced sales leader to augment their current team. As part of the leadership team, the interim executive will contribute to the continued growth of the existing client base and provide strategic support to customers, the account management team as well as functions across the business. We are seeking a hands-on, charismatic individual with a proven track record of delivering results through strategic relationship management and people leadership.
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage, develop, and maintain positive relationships with program members and customers
- Lead and manage a field based-team responsible for managing customer relationships
- Maximize revenue through targeted marketing activities, analytics, research and harmonized collection methodologies and practices
- Integrate marketing and communication strategies with key account management activities and plans, ensuring consistent messaging, activities, and priorities
- Support/reinforce the value proposition with customers through in-person meetings, customer satisfaction surveys, communications, and association management
- Secure and implement improvements based on marketplace insights, working in collaboration with the operations department on launching new services to key accounts
- Assist in the development of the annual business plan and program design
- Build and maintain senior level relationships with existing key accounts and associations to gain an understanding of their businesses and key priorities to identify new market requirements, features and pricing/positioning strategies
- On a targeted basis, secure participation of Key Accounts in new programs, ultimately meeting business plan targets. This includes scheduling and delivering presentations and general account management duties, including management of contracts, revenue, receivables and reporting to Key Accounts including details on their respective activity
- Maintain strong knowledge of new and existing industry trends and new developments; understands and respond to current competitive conditions within the marketplace
- Partially responsible for revenue management of the organization including reporting, collection of receivables and fee setting and related activities
Competencies and Requirements:
- More than 10 years of Sales, Account Management or Client Services leadership experience, ideally within a consumer goods/retail, supply chain/logistics or B2B services setting
- Natural charisma with a proven track record of nurturing and growing existing accounts. This is not a “sales hunter” role but rather relationship management of major national accounts
- Business Degree, BA or BS Degree or equivalent preferred
- Ability to strategize, identify opportunities and develop solutions and plans and ultimately deliver results
- Results driven, curious, creative, energetic self-starter who can work independently and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Strong project management discipline
- Proven people management and leadership experience
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration and attitude
- Travel outside of the office is required for account meetings, tradeshows, conferences, etc. (expectation is up to 25%). Most travel will be within Canada
