The Senior Manager, Tax oversees corporate, state and local tax planning, compliance for Canada and the US. This role will be responsible for planning & filing US corporate & state returns, monitor transfer pricing policy for multiple entities & compliance with US customs valuation.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for US and Canadian corporation tax planning & compliance including federal corporates taxes for a US corporation, state income tax, sales & use tax, property taxes, franchise tax & commercial activity taxes.
  • Lead setup and compliance with US Sales/Use tax & State Income tax Nexus for the US Corporation.
  • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the organization’s tax liability while ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Develop and maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process. • Manage tax audits, including preparing necessary documentation, liaising with tax authorities, and negotiating settlements if required.
  • Oversee the preparation of tax-related financial reports and ensure accurate reporting of tax positions in financial statements.
  • Provide tax-related advice and guidance to senior management and other departments. within the organization, including on mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic decisions
  • Assist in the preparation of the tax budget and forecasts, and monitoring performance against these targets.
  • Monitor transfer pricing & customs valuation policy and provide management reporting for multiple entities to optimize tax exposure for each entity.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA designation
  • 5+ years' experience in tax (planning, compliance, strategy)
  • Familiarity with federal, state, provincial and local reporting requirements (Canada, U.S.)
  • Ability to work well independently and to work well with stakeholders and communicate the benefits of tax initiatives
  • Demonstrated self-starter with strong communication skills
  • Goal-oriented leader with a strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
  • Change leader with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Proven track record in leading and implementing large projects
  • Experience managing a growing environment with changing deadlines and priorities
  • Ability to travel to other site locations, as needed
