As the successful candidate, you will bring:

  • Over 15 years commercial insurance claims experience in commercial property and liability
  • Extensive claims examination experience
  • Ability to work within Mountain Time zone business hours


About the Role:

Currently, the company does not take a lead position on any policies and relies primarily on the lead insurer’s claims team and/or their assigned Third Party Administrator to adjust and manage the claim.


Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, the Claims Examiner will be expected to conduct their work with a view to protecting the company’s customers as well as the company’s interests and reputation. The Examiner will have the authority to approve on the company’s behalf when the approval is clear.


Scope of Work:

  • Facilitate leadership decisions as needed by providing a recommended decision and supporting logic/ information to expedite closure of the claim.
  • Review incoming notices, claims correspondence and adjuster reports to identify those which require further investigation.
  • Investigate and monitor select claims as needed, ensuring that all areas are appropriately actioned, and decisions reasonable,
  • Assist with providing structure around claims process, ensuring proper documentation and decision making protocols are implemented and followed.
  • Monitor incoming claims and existing claims, and oversee select claims according to pre-set criteria
  • Review monthly claims bordereau and KPI report (including reserving) to flag any claims concerns to company leadership.
  • Where applicable, recommend program improvements based on claims experience, trends or irregularities.
  • Provide regular updates on claims status and potential for issues.
  • Provide Litigation & Subrogation support if requested.
