Sr. Manager, Data Science
Hybrid work environment 3 days per week from the Cineplex corporate headquarters at 1303 Yonge Street, Toronto (Yonge and St. Clair).
The Sr. Manager, Data Science will join the Data Insights & Monetization leadership team to enable the organization with industry-leading data science capabilities to optimize the customer experience.
The successful candidate will play a leadership role in evolving the data science models and capabilities for Cineplex, managing a high-performing team that can execute end-to-end project delivery and adoption, and leading the enablement of best practices and latest innovation across the wider organization. The Sr. Manager is responsible for developing and delivering the short- and long-term capabilities roadmap, building a highly engaged team, and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders as the data science subject matter expert to drive incremental business value.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Thought Leadership
Develop and evolve the Data Science vision, strategy, and roadmap in collaboration with stakeholdersAct as the Data Science and Machine Learning subject matter expert with a deep understanding of models/algorithms, data architecture, business processes/operating models, as well as technology integrations to deliver value for the organizationEstablish a Data Science Community of Practice within Cineplex to facilitate the sharing of standard models and capabilities, best practices, and emerging industry-leading innovationPeople Leadership & Team Development
Lead and develop a team of Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers to ensure continuous learning and effective resource managementCoach, mentor, and upskill team members to support their personal and professional career goalsSet clear and measurable goals and objectives that are aligned with the organization’s strategic priorities, as a team and individual team membersDelivery & Collaboration
Responsible for the timely delivery of Data Science projects and roadmap, including operationalizing models into production for business useCollaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their needs and communicate findings/solutions to influence business decision-makingCommunicate overall program milestones, accomplishments, learnings, and opportunities to foster a data-driven cultureEducation and Certification:
Bachelor/Master’s in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related technical specialtyExperience:
7+ years’ experience in data science with demonstrated experience of delivering impactful solutions into operational processes3+ years’ experience of managing a team of data scientistsExperience in data cloud technologies (i.e. Azure, Databricks, Snowflake)Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Deep understanding of data science/machine learning techniques and building/managing predictive and optimization modelsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to convey complex concepts in simple terms to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadershipStrong planning, coordination, prioritization, and project/program management skills with exceptional attention to detailComfortable with managing parallel streams of work with the ability to perform effectively in an environment with many competing demandsEffective leadership skills to foster a strong team culture and team developmentProven ability to work creatively and analytically in a cross-functional, problem-solving environmentInclusion & Diversity
