Job Summary

The Machine Operator will focus on assembling and packaging parts and verifying the use of components for production as required on the Bill of Material (BOM). They will be proficient with all machines in the plant, report all non-conformities to the Production Supervisor and/or Process Technicians, and ensure all products are of the highest quality, all while following production, health and safety practices. This position is based on a 12-hour continental night shift schedule (7:30pm-7:30am, 7 shifts bi-weekly).

Starting Salary: $22.77/hour

Principle Responsibilities
  • Set up workstation according to standards
  • Various assembling tasks, including inserts, collar inserts, heat inserts, regular screws, self tapping screws, covers, gasket installation, reaming, bagging and preparing WIP
  • Various packaging tasks, including bagging, packing to order requirements, checking and applying correct carton label, stacking carton to required skid configuration, check quantity for accuracy and apply operator stamp
  • Quality tasks including identifying, sorting and reworking nonconforming parts and get Quality Control approval for scrap
  • Enter scrap into MES
  • Participate in facility waste management program
  • Understands and follows Operator 5S responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of other tasks as assigned

Requirements

  • Completion of High School or equivalent experience required
  • Experience in a plant or manufacturing environment is an asset
  • Experience using all tools and machines in the plant including manual, hand, pneumatic, electrical and rotary tools is an asset
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to perform repetitive tasks and possess good attention to detail
  • Knowledgeable of health and safety practices in a manufacturing environment
  • Intermediate level of hand dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic arithmetic proficiency

Working Conditions

Incumbent spends almost 100% of time in the plant environment requiring varying degrees of moderate physical labour. The majority of the work will cover lifting, pulling, pushing heavy objects (20-50 lbs.), standing and walking. Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, dust, noise levels and the use of equipment such as sharp blades and presses. Considerable amount of sensory attention is required. Limited control of work pace and predictable workflow, bring some stresses to this position. The incumbent understands, respects, and adheres to the workplace Health & Safety rules and regulations.
