Founded in 1960, the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa (YSB) is one of Ottawa’s largest and most comprehensive non-profit agencies and a registered charity. It provides mental health services, employment programs, emergency shelters, community, health and housing services, and justice programs to youth in the region, serving between 2,500 and 3,000 at‑risk individuals 12+ and their families every month. YSB employs 350 caring professionals in a unionized environment in 20 locations across Ottawa.

As a crucial member of the Senior Management team, the Director of Mental Health Services plays a pivotal role in providing daily oversight and leadership to the mental health staffing team and services within YSB. This includes actively participating in the development and implementation of the strategic direction for mental health services, aligning with the organization's mandate, vision, and strategic plan. The Director is responsible for managing mental health programs, ensuring their effectiveness and adherence to high standards. Additionally, the Director engages in the design, implementation, and monitoring of programs to enhance the quality and scope of mental health services, fostering continuous improvement. Furthermore, the Director advances community partnerships and collaborations, promoting a holistic and system-based approach to mental health care that aligns with the YSB's commitment to comprehensive, integrated, and inclusive services.

As the ideal candidate you will be fully bilingual, hands-on and strategic, serving as an operational and visionary leader capable of driving YSB’s mental health services forward. You possess a distinctive blend of attributes to adeptly navigate the dynamic nature of the role. You will have an agile and creative approach to the development and enhancement of YSB’s mental health programs. You are a confident and humble people leader with a strong ability to build healthy teams through mentorship, guiding, and coaching. Your communication and interpersonal skills allow you to engage effectively and positively with partners, agency executives, and regional tables. Your significant understanding of the mental health ecosystem makes you efficient in system planning, program development, and adept at designing, implementing, and monitoring programs and services.
