Job Description
As a level designer (Quest) at Ubisoft Montréal, you'll mix gameplay elements and guidelines to design unique places to explore and enticing environments to interact with. You'll help create the quests that will guide players through an immersive, memorable and rich adventure.
You'll draw the blueprint of what players will see and experience within a part of an immersive world
You are an architect focused on function. You'll use the creation tools and game engine at your disposition to conceptualize, prototype, and deliver the levels you manage. Always mindful of how players will react and move within your layout, you'll adapt your designed areas to continuously boost their quality.
What you’ll do
Author and champion a part of the story content from idea to final implementation Draft, script and iterate engaging quests and missions that entertain narratively as well as in gameplay Liaise efficiently with other departments in order to spur consensus and advocate for the benefit of our players Work with and contribute to design guidelines, consistency and best practices Seek out, parse and act on feedback about your content
Qualifications
What you bring
Experience in creating robust quest and mission scripts in game engines (Unreal, Unity, etc.) Sharp sense of pacing, narrative progression and drama Level design, gameplay encounter and/or 3D layout fundamentals Excellent collaboration, communication, presentation and interpersonal skills Ability to accept and adapt to feedback Ability to find resources and solve problems Excellent technical skills Understanding of the open world / action-adventure segmentBonus skills
3rd person action game experience Passion for history's wisdom and secrets Understanding of linear and non-linear content implications Understanding of industry standards for player experience
