Education &Training:
A graduate from an approvedSchool of Nursing (Registered Practical Nursing Program) orRegistered
Nursing Program with a current certificate ofcompetence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Currentcertification in Basic Cardiac Life SupportBCLS
Theoretical and applied knowledge of the PracticeStandards set out by the Ontario College of Nurses.
Musthave relevant experience working within full scope of practiceincluding medication administration
within the last two(2) years.
Completion of RPN standardization (allmodules) required. (HSN requirement)
Ministry of LabourWorker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps training certificateis required.
Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
Proficient with Microsoft Office Meditech Client Service OE andGRASP software.
Capable of practicing within the fullscope of an RPN/RN including medication administration.
Knowledgeable about community support services home and communitycare rehabilitative services adult day programs and other socialservices.
Effective team player with strong interpersonaland communication skills.
Able to work cooperatively withstaff patients physicians volunteers and the public.
Skilled in using patient care equipment.
Familiar withOntario Hospital Association/Medical Association CommunicableDisease Surveillance Protocols.
Able to prioritize tasksefficiently.
Compliant with HSNs privacy policy andcommitted to the safety of coworkers and patients.
Workswell independently and under pressure.
Relates well tostaff residents and families with patience tolerance andconfidentiality.
Maintains a positive work and attendancerecord.
Uses tact and discretion with healthcareproviders and employees.
Committed to ongoingprofessional development and handles confidential issuesprofessionally.
Capable of meeting the physical andsensory demands of the job.
Empathetic and understandingof the needs of the elderly and disabled.
SatisfactoryCriminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening (within 6months of employment start date) and TB testing required.
Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
