ERSC 1P94 - Planetary Science

Compensation 

Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds. 

· Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $ per hour. 

· Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $ hour. 

· In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. 

Duties 

The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. Under the direction and supervision of the course instructor, the incumbent is required to be familiar with topics being taught in the lecture component of the course and be able to explain and answer questions on any topics covered in assignments and course notes. Duties include scheduled contact time with students in an online environment. Other work may include preparation of assignment material, student consultation, marking and/or grading, examination proctoring, holding office hours during regular business hours, and other course administration as may be required.

Qualifications 

Minimum qualifications include: a) Completion of an Honours degree in Earth Sciences (or equivalent*). b) Completion of ERSC 1F01 (or equivalent*) with a final grade of 75% or higher. c) Proficiency* with Planetary sciences (specifically Planetary surfaces and Planetary interiors). d) Competence in the use of email, Sakai, Internet, Microsoft Office, and multi-media equipment. *Equivalency and proficiency will be determined by the course instructor.
