Summary:

 

Maintain parking garage records and systems, balance accounts and prepare reports.  Prepare requests for invoices and issue all garage permits. Receive and process parking infraction certificate payments.  Operate coin machines to sort, count, box and balance monies for bank deposit, as required. Respond to complaints and inquiries with respect to parking infractions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the parking permit systems for City parking garages by analyzing daily payment reports for accuracy, balancing and preparing general ledger entries, preparing requests for invoices and issuing all garage permits.
  • Prepare basic financial reports and statistical analysis with respect to the sale of all types of parking permits for parking operations.
  • Process parked vehicle complaints and follow up when necessary.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the accounts receivable parking system by recording, balancing and processing daily deposit of parking infraction payments received.
  • Prepare and send notice of required action to violators (e.g. late or incomplete payments etc.) and maintain records of all correspondence.
  • Confirm and issue refunds for violations or garage permits, preparing necessary documents, vouchers and correspondence.
  • Respond to all inquiries with respect to parking enforcement and all City parking facilities providing information and assistance as required.
  • Act as back-up for Parking Violation Clerk.
  • Perform other similar and related duties as required

Position Requirements:

  • Grade 12 diploma.
  • Accounting background with proficiency in mathematics and proven cash experience.
  • One (1) year experience related to customer service and cash handling.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of parking by-laws and the Provincial Offences Act, Part II.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under conditions of strict confidentiality and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.
  • Proven completion of Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness training. 
  • A demonstrated commitment to enhancing a safety culture.

CUPE 157 Pay Group 5 – Minimum $51,389 annually; Maximum $57,199 annually

Expected Work Location: City Hall (eligible for part-time remote work)

Hours of Work: Currently Monday - Friday; 8:30am - 4:30pm

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION FOR APPROXIMATELY EIGHT (8) MONTHS
