Position Summary This position is responsible for the coordination of the scholarships and bursaries and donor stewardship program (events and activities), and for implementing annual fundraising campaigns including but not limited to: monthly giving, annual alumni appeals, and tribute giving. The position also plays a key roll in supporting major gift research and alumni events and activities. Duties & Responsibilities Leads, in consultation with the Director, the awards program including: solicitation of gifts, renewal of donor agreements with individuals, businesses and organizations and stewardship activities. Leads, in consultation with the Director, annual giving appeals such as: Monthly donors, Giving Tuesday, tribute giving and alumni appeals. Leads and collaborates with the Director and Foundation Team on all recognition and stewardship plans and activities Creates proposals, stewardship reports and reporting metrics that supports department initiatives. Acts as the Foundation Liaison for Annual Awards Ceremonies program activities including recognition events, donor reports and stewardship actions relating to donors and volunteers. Coordinates and leads key areas within our event hosting commitments and is a key member of the event team in the planning and delivery of events such as Donor Recognition, Flourish, the Outstanding Alumni Awards, alumni events and reunions. Identifies and researches potential donors and collaborates with the appropriate party(s) to determine suitable cultivation strategy for new donors. Works independently with donors and prospects, develops proposals for funding and works to achieve fundraising goals. Establishes and maintains contacts with a wide variety of community groups, individuals and potential or actual sources of funding. Oversees update of the database with donor and volunteer information ensuring information is complete and accurate. Liaises with and facilitates the management of the Foundations’ annual report, and newsletter. Works as part of the team to support programs, campaigns, projects, and special events, managing a high volume of work, prioritizing tasks and requests from various sources. Remains current with trends in fundraising, alumni relations and community engagement. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Education and Experience Completion of two (2) year diploma in marketing, business administration, communications or fundraising and over 2 years of related experience in fundraising, alumni relations or marketing and experience working with relationship management software e.g., Raiser’s Edge, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities Proven effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team and establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty and the general public. Superior oral, written and persuasive communication skills with the ability to demonstrate creativity and ingenuity in developing campaign strategies. Ability to draft and edit communication materials such as promotional brochures, newsletters, proposals and grant applications. Experience with donor activities and stewardship of accounts. Demonstrated knowledge of post-secondary policies, procedures and programs. Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of initiative. Demonstrated ability to use tact and discretion in dealing with the public and respond to and resolve complex requests or complaints. Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail. Computer experience and proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and relationship management software such as Raisers Edge NXT.
