Miniature Railway Conductor

Main Purpose and Function
The Miniature Railway Conductor is responsible for driving and maintaining the Stanley Park miniature locomotive. The successful candidate will ensure the safety of all passengers, equipment and coworkers on the track and on the locomotive while, ensuring safety procedures are being followed while providing good customer service and addressing disruptive behaviors that would affect other passengers.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures passengers have tickets, closes platform gates, ensures passengers are safe, cleans platform, gives directions to park patrons. Organizes passengers into appropriate ticket lines, boards and disembarks the passengers, makes sure strollers, wheelchairs, special equipment are in designated areas or assists patrons with special needs. Conducts and ensures a visual check of all equipment is completed. Checks all hose and speaker connections on the locomotive, checks & maintains fluids & levels (oil, transmission, coolant or antifreeze), cleans the locomotive cars. Maintains public safety, equipment and site by stopping the locomotive and speaking to passengers when necessary, ensuring the ebrakes will not accidently roll. Stops the locomotive in a safe manner for passengers to take photos. Ensures that the locomotive site, including all attached facilities, are clean and secured at the end of the shifts. Ensures proper startup and closing procedures are followed. Provides friendly and excellent customer service.Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Grade 12 and a willingness to complete 40 hours of driving the locomotive on site Successful completion of the BC Safety Authority Exam is preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to courteously answer questions and deal with the public. Must provide friendly and excellent customer service. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (wheel chairs, strollers, special equipment) Must be able to implement safety procedures.Business Unit/Department: Board of Parks & Recreation (1400)
