Toronto, Canada Acuity Insights Full time

Imagine a world powered by everyone’s full potential, where we focus on enabling people to grow and thrive.

At Acuity Insights, that’s the world we envision and want to build.

With our product, Casper, we are working to ensure everyone has fair access to higher education made possible by holistic admission processes that recognize applicants' full potential, shaped by lived experiences, cultural influences, values, traits, and soft skills.

With our products, One45 & Analytics, we deliver technology that enables education programs to streamline and optimize complex operations needed to successfully train and graduate the world’s future doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Acuity Insights is at a new growth stage. Our roots are planted firmly in health and medical education. We are expanding into engineering education, business schools, and other markets and evolving our product lines to enable more holistic success for students and education programs.

We’d like to invite you to be part of our startup-to-scaleup journey.

Join our team as a Senior Content & Video Producer, and leverage your creative writing and video production experience in a unique way and setting: producing content for Casper, our admissions test that measures social intelligence and professionalism in higher education applicants.

Opportunity & Impact

As a Senior Content & Video Producer on the Content Production team, you'll help support our most widely used product, Casper.

Casper is a soft skills test used in the admissions process of hundreds of academic programs globally, including teacher's colleges, engineering, and medical schools. Over 140,000 applicants take the test every year.

In this role, you will lead the development of video and text-based scenarios for the Casper test. Each scenario you create will assess the test-taker for one or more aspects of social intelligence and professionalism, including collaboration, communication, empathy, equity, ethics, motivation, problem-solving, professionalism, resilience, and self-awareness.

It’s a multi-faceted and hands-on role where you’ll:

  • Have ownership of international video production cycles. Lead the 6-8 month production cycle of Casper content for the UK and Australia, including pre-production planning and ideation, on-set coordination and oversight, and the post-production review process.
  • Write, edit, and proofread content. Apply your creative writing and editing skills to develop and review text-based scenarios and video scripts for the Casper test, using language that works within the constraints of our content blueprints and is sensitive to cultural nuances and diverse test-takers.
  • Engage and manage external partners. Develop and nurture working relationships with video production partners in the UK and Australia, scope and negotiate their contracts, communicate requirements and creative direction, and coordinate casting, location selection, and film dates.
  • Travel and work for on-location filming. Travel to the UK and Australia for up to eight weeks per calendar year to oversee and ensure the quality of the film production and approve last-minute changes that may be needed, such as to the cast or dialogue.
  • Help operate and scale content production. Participate in quarterly and annual planning, and contribute to and occasionally lead initiatives for business growth, like exploring ways to apply AI and other technologies ethically to existing processes and to speed up and reduce the cost of content production.
  • Collaborate with other teams and functions. Work with teams like Stem Resource Development on content tagging and quality control and the Research team on blueprints and guidelines.)

Measurements of your success

You’ll know you are meeting performance expectations in the role and thriving at Acuity Insights when you:

  • Run efficient production cycles, delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Follow research-based blueprints and guidelines to achieve maximum quality and usability of the content you produce.
  • Maintain healthy, positive relationships with both external partners, like video production companies, and internal partners, like the Research team.
  • Your ideas, innovations, and process improvements contribute to making content production more efficient and cost-effective, positively impacting and being recognized by team members company-wide.

This Senior Content and Video Producer position is a remote, individual contributor role. You’ll report to Emily Harrison, Manager of Casper Operations (Content Production).

To thrive in the role, you:
  • Are a video producer with expertise in managing and delivering multi-month production projects from pre-production to post-production, coordinating moving parts and internal and external partners.
  • Have worked as a scriptwriter, copywriter, speechwriter, or in a related role on projects that required your creative writing and use of nuanced language.
  • Bring solid editorial and review skills to provide critical feedback and improve the quality of the content.
  • Have a forward-thinking approach to technology and problem-solving, including a curiosity about AI (Artificial Intelligence) and it's application for content operations.
  • Are experienced working in a remote work setting where you’ve had to rely on asynchronous communication and collaboration tools like Slack, Confluence or Notion.
  • Have some experience improving operational processes, such as implementing software that streamlines a workflow or automates a manual process.
  • Like using data and insights to manage, track and measure your work, and to form opinions and make decisions.
  • Resilient through change and high-pressure conditions, including working with tight deadlines and responding to unexpected challenges and last-minute hiccups.
To thrive at Acuity Insights, you are
  • Caring toward people. You show up, take time to listen and understand, encourage and support, and don’t shy away from providing feedback, mentoring, and teaching others to help them grow.
  • Curious by nature and open to possibilities. You like exploring, asking questions, listening, experimenting, and learning.
  • Driven to problem-solve independently and with collaborators, seek to continuously improve your skills, methods, and practices.
  • Adaptable and drawn to startup-like environments where you can help build, innovate, and initiate and own projects that drive positive change.
  • Autonomous and resourceful, you are at your best when you handle your work and time independently and proactively seek support when you get stuck or need feedback.
  • Self-aware, with an understanding of your strengths and where you have growth opportunities.
  • Motivated by purposeful work that resonates with your values and interests serves the greater good.
Selection Process

We look at every application. Your application is evaluated and selected based on your professional experiences, your impact in previous roles, and the soft skills you demonstrate.

To ensure a fair process, you will receive equal consideration whether you apply, get introduced as a referral, or contact the manager or recruiter directly.

We can only consider applicants who currently reside in Canada and have permission to live and work here.

Interview Process

We have designed our interview process to be a two-way discovery and create space for meaningful conversations.

We want to get to know you personally and professionally, understand your career journey and evaluate your skills, experiences, and values to ensure they align with our needs.

We also want you to have the information you need to make an informed decision about this opportunity. That’s why we encourage you to get curious and ask questions throughout our conversations.

Here are the steps you can expect:

  • Review & Selection.  A human, rather than an AI, will review your application to assess potential fit.
  • Intro Conversation with Recruiter. If selected, you’ll have a 45-to-60-minute phone call to discuss your background and interests and learn more about the company, team, role, and compensation.
  • Take-Home Project. Complete a small project that mirrors a relevant aspect of the role.
  • Meet The Manager. Have a 45-minute video call with your potential future manager to discuss your project and relevant work experiences and learn about the team and their day-to-day.
  • Meet The Team. Connect with 3-4 future peers and collaborators in 1-on-1 video conversations to learn more about life at Acuity Insights.
  • Wait For a Decision. The Hiring Manager consolidates and evaluates feedback from the team to make a hiring decision within 2-4 days.
  • Receive an Offer / Reference Check. If you're a good fit for the role, team, and company, we'll invite you to an offer conversation. The offer is contingent upon the completion of a reference check.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Work remotely. Enjoy the freedom and flexibility of working from anywhere within Canada. You can also work from abroad for up to 6 weeks per year.
  • Fair pay. Get paid fairly for your work with a salary aligned to your role, skill level, and job responsibilities, informed by internal pay equity and market data.
  • Investment in your growth. Access a $3,000 yearly budget for professional and personal development.
