Why Work for Us

Stuart Olson is seeking Insulators for our client site in Fort McMurray, AB, for a July 2024 start date on our maintenance, projects, and turnaround teams; working 11 days on, 3 days off. Continuous camp accommodations (no check out) and Union Travel Benefits ($288 each way) are provided for non-locals to Fort McMurray. However, Preference is given to local candidates along with a $750 monthly Local Incentive Allowance.

Our Offer for you

Site: Fort McMurray, AB Schedule:  11 days on, 3 days off, 10-hour days. (7 days on 7 days off, 12 hours per shift (Compressed Work Week) at a higher premium is also available) Overtime: All hours worked on Saturday and Sunday are paid at Doubletime 2.0x. All hours worked on Friday are paid at Overtime 1.5x. Any work over ten hours per day is paid at Doubletime 2.0x with applicable meal pay Certified Journeyman Compensation: Union Pension, Health, Dental, and Vision Benefits.

 Responsibilities

Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine insulation requirements. Select the amount and type of insulation to be installed as well as a method of securing the insulation according to the type and shape of the surface, whether or not the equipment is cold or hot, inside or outside, and what the equipment is going to be used for. Measure and cut insulating material and coverings to the required shape and dimensions. Fit insulation around obstructions or shape insulation materials and protective coverings. Install vapour barriers and finish insulated surfaces by applying metal cladding, plastic or cement.

Working Conditions

This is a Union Job position, so you must be willing and able to enroll at Local 110 Heat & Frost Insulators & Allied Workers, pay dues, and be dispatched to the work site Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions Working at heights Working in and around noise and dust Must be clean-shaven daily. Safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.

Qualifications

Journeyperson Ticket or Proof of hours CSTS 2020, must complete all required Client and Stuart Olson web-based orientation. Training tickets: Fall Protection Pre-access Drug and Alcohol test

Physical Requirements

Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50lbs. with assistance Stand or walk for long periods of time Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects
