The Role

As a private voice instructor in the Music Department, you will instruct students in the Basic Musicianship Certificate, Music Diploma, Music Technology Diploma, and Foundation for Music Therapy Studies programs. Responsibilities The successful candidate will instruct students, facilitate learning, evaluate student progress in cohort programs and model musical excellence. As part of an integrated instructional team, the successful candidate will plan, organize, and manage learning activities and maintain quality learner-centred instruction. As a performance faculty member, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in public performances on campus, including the Arts in the Afternoon concert series. To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need - a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Music or equivalent experience;
- a strong performance profile and excellent musicianship;
- a demonstrated ability to teach across a variety of musical styles;
- extensive knowledge of repertoire and pedagogy appropriate for voice;
- a record of successful teaching and recruitment at the post-secondary level;
- a demonstrated ability to work with a population of diverse adult learners;
- a strong commitment to maintaining and growing enrolment in your studio;
- excellent communication skills, demonstrated initiative and creativity, effective interpersonal skills, self-directedness, and evidence of ongoing professional development.
