Your Opportunity:

You have a strong interest in expanding your knowledge into the exciting area of clinical research. As a Dietitian I working in research you will assist with the coordination of a clinical trial, identify potential participants, conduct research-related nutrition assessments and coordinate investigations to assure trial compliance according to study protocol. Your involvement will be part of leading-edge research into the treatment of cancer-associated malnutrition in the clinical trial "A randomized open label trial of multimodal oral nutritional supplementation versus standard care, to prevent/attenuate malnutrition in patients with cancers of the head and neck receiving (chemo)-radiotherapy treatment." You will perform patient assessments, management, and education. Obtain informed consent, conduct dietary intake assessments, administer questionnaires or other data collection tools; plan, implement and coordinate all aspects of data collection and source documentation as per GCP guidelines. Execute all aspects of study visit - Assessment, symptoms, monitoring safety, medication, questionnaires. Make clinical and professional autonomous decisions on a daily basis. Work within and monitor standards of care in the defined clinical trial protocols and the policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the Clinical Trials Unit to ensure adherence to high-quality research. You will oversee the day-to-day management of patients during the study. Liaison between patient/family, and with Clinical Research Coordinator(s), Healthcare Team and related treatment areas.

Description:

As a Dietitian I, you may provide nutrition expertise to patients (clients, residents) in various AHS facilities and community settings to achieve nutrition and health outcomes. You may be responsible for nutrition assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of nutrition care plans. You may plan and provide public health nutrition services and education programs to promote healthy living and disease prevention for clients/groups in facilities or community settings. Nutrition education is provided to students and other healthcare professionals to support delivery of evidence based nutrition information.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science with a major in Foods and Nutrition. Completion of an internship program or practicum training program accredited by the Dietitians of Canada. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Dietitians of Alberta (CDA).

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with oncology experience and/or clinical trials experience.
