Title of Course

Compensation 

Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds. 

· Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $ per hour. 

· Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $ per hour. 

· In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. 

Duties 

The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.

Qualifications 

-Proven competency in the subject area, including a minimum of 80% in the course being applied for (or equivalent) and an overall average of 80%.
-Excellent English Language Skills, both written and verbal.
-Previous TA experience would be an asset.

-Must have knowledge of MS-office applications, particularly: MS-EXCEL, MS-TEAMS AND MS-POWERPOINT.

-Must be familiar with the basic functions of Brightspace to guide students with the uploading and/or downloading of files related to lab practices, assignments and tests.

-Academic Integrity and Professionalism.
-Proven track record of working effectively and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner.
