Summary of responsibilities:
The Senior Advisor, External Reporting is responsible for supporting CATSA’s financial accounting management services, which entails analyzing transactions against internal policies and relevant accounting standards, preparing journal entries, and drafting quarterly and annual financial statements under IFRS along with supporting documentation. The Senior Advisor, External Reporting is also responsible for researching complex accounting treatments and drafting CATSA specific position papers. The Senior Advisor, External Reporting performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.
What you need to succeed
To qualify for the position, you must have:
Graduation from a recognized university with a specialization in finance, business administration or some other specialization related to the duties of the position. A Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. A minimum of five (5) years of post-professional accounting experience. A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a financial reporting environment, preparing inputs into financial statements in accordance with IFRS and ensuring completeness of required disclosures. Experience supporting the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, procedures, processes relating to financial accounting. Experience liaising and working with internal and/or external auditors.This position is best suited to individuals with the following skills and abilities:
Ability to engage others. Ability to understand clients’ needs and liaise and negotiate effectively. Ability to analyze and problem-solve; ability to propose creative solutions. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong teamwork orientation. Strong client service orientation. Ability to multi-task and identify priorities.Valuable skills include:
Knowledge of legislation, directives, guidelines (e.g., the Financial Administration Act) and Treasury Board policies/principles relevant to Crown Corporations. Knowledge of PSAS. Knowledge of CATSA's mandate and priorities, as well as an awareness of relevant legislation impacting CATSA.Specific work requirements
Ability to work overtime as required; Ability to travel as required Language Profile: Bilingual BBBB; Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; and Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
