Job Summary

This Position requires a 0.6 FTE commitment. For clarity, 0.6 FTE will mean that you will be guaranteed and expected to work up to a maximum of 45 hours per pay period.

The Clinical Practice Support Nurse for Unregulated Care Providers (UCPs) is a temporary full-time role designed for a registered practical nurse who will support the development of Patient Service Partners (PSPs). They will support the onboarding of new staff, provide clinical mentorship to PSPs, and work to improve clinical team integration.

Primary Responsibilities

•Support unit teams to collaborate with PSPs to provide required patient care
•Aid in integration of team processes and role clarity
•Maintain regular unit presence to support ongoing mentorship needs
•Support real-time reinforcement of required skills attainment of UCPs to the clinical units
•In partnership with Clinical Nurse Educator, contribute to PSP onboarding by creating, adapting and delivering orientation and learning resources
•Communicate additional learning needs and/or practice gaps to appropriate Clinical Nurse Educator
•Communicate performance concerns to appropriate manager
•Participate in the review and updating of policies and procedures that impact UCPs
•Promote UCP wellness and team well‐being

Qualifications

•Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the past 2 years in frontline care in various inpatient medical/surgical hospital clinical settings which may include medicine, surgery, cancer or palliative care required
•Excellent clinical skills and competencies
•Outstanding communication skills
•Previous experience teaching, working with learners and/or preceptoring required
•Previous experience as Clinical Instructor or placement supervisor preferred
•Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
•Demonstrates understanding of infection prevention and control practices
•Demonstrates conflict resolution skills
•Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all
•Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging and exciting health care environment
