DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



The Activities Consultant is responsible for organizing, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating activity programs within the Healthy Aging Program. The goal is to enhance the quality of life of the patients and residents within CCC and Rehab. This position will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day programming ensuring schedule and priorities are met, work in collaboration with the CCC and Rehab teams to organize, coordinate and supervise activities, fosters partnerships within the community; acting as liaison with external agencies and individuals from seniors-focused organizations, clubs, associations, and community groups to plan and host special events, outings as well as providing leadership and direction to Recreation Therapy Assistants and volunteers involved in activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Therapeutic Recreation Program Diploma and member of Registered Therapeutic Recreation of Ontario
* Minimum of 2 years experience in a hospital setting, working with the geriatric population is preferred
* Ability to effectively communicate with all patients, family members, staff, and volunteers
* Experience working with seniors/older adults and individuals with dementia and/or cognitively impaired clients, particularly in a long-term care setting
* Knowledge of community resources
* Possess effective leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
* Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work independently and in a team setting
* Ability to manage time effectively
* Innovative patient driven care activity planning
* Previous experience in program planning and evaluation
* Ability to work with clients with various needs

* Must have satisfactory performance record
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service in this area
