About the ole:

The Health Care Improvement Advisor is a member of the International Operations team. This team focuses on the delivery of client services for the international accreditation program. This means finding new and innovative ways to create and deliver value to health care organizations in ways that are aligned with a mission that matters: enabling and empowering people around the world to continuously improve quality of care.

From educating a client about the accreditation process, to developing their accreditation and on-site survey plan, to post-survey support and coaching, our Health Care Improvement Advisors play a key role in supporting clients throughout their accreditation journey. Impacting the efforts of health care organizations around the world, they strive towards providing all clients with the support they need as they seek to give patients high quality and safe health services.

If you’re right for this role, you have varied firsthand experience in a health services organization, providing you with the understanding and insight needed to succeed in this role. Preferably you have held a clinical role or worked very closely with clinical teams to implement quality improvement initiatives, witnessing directly the impact that quality improvement has on the patients and family who receive care in that organization.

The thought of using your stellar people skills and subject matter expertise to coach our clients through a broad array of questions and concerns leaves you energized and excited. Let’s break it down. Your responsibilities include:

Supporting clients through education and coaching. You’ll build meaningful relationships with new clients and strengthen existing ones, as you support them in their accreditation journey based on your lived experience. You’ll use your extensive and comprehensive understanding of our standards and various healthcare environments to develop and deliver training sessions, coaching session and orient clients to the program whether it is in person with a large group or remotely one-on-one. Architecture and negotiation of customized accreditation plans, including identifying needs, survey preparation, building the survey schedule and providing ongoing support. Internal Collaboration. You’ll work with your team of fellow advisors to review and evaluate the service you provide, collaborating on new and exciting ways to bring value. You’ll work with a great team of project officers, ensuring you’re up-to-date on client contracts and deliverables. You’ll partner with surveyors, ensuring they understand the context of the organizations they are assessing and answering their questions. And lastly, but not least, working with our market development team to support them to ensure that solutions and programs are tailored to meet clients’ needs. At times, you’ll take off your client services hat and switch gears to support the team wherever it is needed most. We work with clients in 40 countries, meaning that you may have to travel to support clients on-site. It also means you’re not restricted to living your life on different time zones, understanding to connect with clients, you may need to go out of the regular routine 9-5 pm.

You have a unique history. Does it include the education and experience listed below?

University or Master’s degree in a related field, such as Healthcare. 5+ years of progressive and varied experience in healthcare. Tried and tested assessment, analytical, and critical-thinking skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience in effectively communicating with a wide variety of stakeholders. Bilingualism in English and Spanish. Additional languages such as French are a definite asset. Outstanding interpersonal skills. This is key. Have a clinical background, preferably either in nursing or as a physician. Are familiar with our Qmentum program and accreditation process. Willingness to travel internationally up to 20%, on a needed basis. Have a passion for quality and standard interpretation.

In Your First 30-90 Days:

Complete our orientation program with other new hires to learn about HSO, our values of trust, inclusion, collaboration, innovation and learning, and our mission of quality improvement in healthcare and social services. Set your performance and learning objectives for the year in collaboration with your people manager. Meet regularly with your people manager to discuss your learning progression and alignment for your accountabilities. Take on assigned initiatives or projects for your role.
