Watch your hands-on experiences come to life as you support the construction of various projects through the District.

About Our Opportunity

As the Inspector/Checker/Weigher, there is no worry about doing the same thing day in, day out.  Things are always changing, no two days are alike, and every job is different.

You will oversee and maintain records of the daily delivery and distribution of materials at highway construction sites. You will ensure quality of materials delivered, and accuracy in information that is recorded.

Primary Accountabilities

Assignment of duties will be in accordance with Maintenance or Construction services operational needs including duties associated with Inspector, Checker and Weigher positions such as: weighing and recording materials; ensuring trucks are operating safely and within required weights; inspecting, cleaning and calibrating scales; and overseeing contractor activities.  You will also be required to assist the Survey Technician with onsite duties on a regular basis. District operating policies and procedures and geographic differences across the province may dictate the nature and methods of the work performed.

Qualifications and Experience

Grade 12 completion or an acceptable equivalent of education and experience. Previous construction experience in areas such as bridge repair, road construction and surveying are an asset.

A valid driver’s license is required. Work is often performed in isolated areas, therefore access to a reliable vehicle is required.

This position requires you to climb, lift and carry various equipment throughout construction sites.

Additional Information

Incumbents will be trained in the duties of Inspector, Checker and Weigher. At the end of the training and/or testing process, employees who are deemed qualified are expected to perform the duties of Inspector, Checker and Weigher when required in the zone(s) where they normally work.
