Tenure-Track Instructor in Electronic Systems Engineering

Position Summary
Situated in beautiful Wascana Park, one of the largest urban parks in North America, the University of Regina is a comprehensive institution that emphasizes excellence in teaching and research, as well as public service. Experiential learning and cross-disciplinary teaching are strongly supported.The Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science presently offers five programs in Electronic, Environmental, Industrial, Petroleum and Software Systems Engineering that are accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board. A new Energy Systems Engineering program started in Fall 2023. We also offer M. Eng., M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. programs, as well as interdisciplinary graduate programs. The Faculty offers unique Co-operative Education and Internship programs and has approximately 650 undergraduate and 350 graduate students (about 140 graduate students are in Ph.D. programs). The Faculty has a strong commitment to providing an excellent “systems approach” to engineering education. Each program has a unique implementation of the systems theme, founded on the common underlying goal of producing engineering graduates with a strong base of technical knowledge and with the breadth of complementary skills that successful professional engineers should have in the workplace.
The Faculty enjoys close collaborative relationships with industry and government research laboratories. These include the Sylvia Fedoruk Canadian Centre for Nuclear Innovation, SaskPower, the Saskatchewan Research Council, the University’s Energy Transition Hub, Clean Energy Technologies Research Institute (CETRI) and the Institute for Energy, Environment and Sustainable Communities (IEESC). Electronic Systems Engineering provides core instruction in electronic and electrical fundamentals. Further specialization is offered in the areas of Communications, Instrumentation & Control, Power, and Microelectronics/embedded systems. The program also provides teaching support in general engineering courses and offers service courses to other programs within the Faculty. Position Requirements Applications are invited for a tenure-track faculty position at the Instructor level. Astrong commitment to teaching and service is required, with a preference for individuals with industrial experience. The successful candidate must have the ability and enthusiasm to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in power systems (ENEL 371/ENEL 472/ENEL 473) and in support of core electronic systems topics (ENEL 280/ENEL 281/ENEL 282/ENEL 383/ENEL 384). Support of and involvement in power systems labs and managing student design projects in the power protection area are requirements. A valued characteristic is the successful candidate’s ability to work in a team environment within the Electronic Systems Engineering program. The ability to build relationships with industry contacts in the power systems field is an asset.
Applicants should have a Bachelor of Applied Science degree or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a closely related field. They should also have the appropriate credentials for registration as a Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
