Your Opportunity:
The Mental Health Clinician is a new position with the AMH Supported Housing team and offers a broad range of opportunities to positively impact individuals living with addiction and mental health concerns within the homeless sector. This position will work with our Bridge Team which provides clinical in-reach services to 4 transitional housing sites within the Edmonton Zone. The sites are Glenwood (Bridge Healing), Pimatisiwin, Jockey Dorms and Sandy’s Place. Services are provided on a short-term basis while the client resides in bridge housing. The position will be responsible for intake and screening, assessment, treatment planning, case management, crisis intervention, consultation and system navigation. As a Mental Health Clinician, you will be required to provide psychosocial interventions using a wide range of treatment modalities. An important part of this role is collaboration with multiple community partners and physicians. Relationship building with site operators is a key piece to success in the role. Our clinicians are recovery-oriented, concurrent capable, culturally competent and committed to providing high-quality service. They can work independently and also as a team.This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews, and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Registered Occupational Therapists.
Required Qualifications:Completion of a master's degree in psychology; a bachelor's degree in social work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention; a master's or bachelor's degree in occupational therapy with similar educational components; a bachelor's degree in nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling; or a bachelor's degree in psychiatric nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:Excellent communication and self-management skills. Flexibility, openness and a desire to be a strong team player. If registered with the ACSW, preference is given to those with authorization to perform restricted psychosocial interventions.Extensive knowledge of community resources would be an asset.
