Position Summary
BCIT’s School of Business + Media: Digital Arts, Media and Design department is seeking highly talented, motivated and qualified professionals to become temporary, part-time Instructors for the New Media Design and Web Development diploma.These temporary, part-time positions will range from 0.2 FTE to 0.8 FTE hours based on department needs. Duties & Responsibilities BCIT’s Digital Arts, Media and Design offers a range of programs in the areas of Animation and Gaming, Web and Mobile, and Communication and Graphics.
The successful applicants will be enthusiastic, team-oriented professionals with broad, practical knowledge within the Web and Mobile industry. We are seeking individuals who are committed to quality and innovation in meeting our students’ needs and who value the importance of teamwork in the workplace. The successful applicants may expect to be assigned courses across a range of areas related to our Web and Mobile programs, and must have a strong commitment to teaching and interacting with students, an ability to communicate clearly and effectively, and an interest in developing and delivering quality curriculum, for an industry that’s fast changing.
Applicants with teaching experience and industry expertise in the following range of instructional areas will be given preference (please check the BCIT website for course specific information for the New Media Design and Web Development diploma):
Digital Photography Web Services and File Management Web Technologies New Media Communications Graphic Design for New Media Storytelling for New Media Photoshop for New Media Law and New Media Information Architecture Mobile Web Social Media Networking Project Management for New Media Illustration for New Media Animation for New Media Web Scripting UI/UX Strategy Video Storytelling Web Design and Interaction Interactive Portfolio Development Motion Graphics for New Media New Technologies Web Scripting Digital Layouts and Interactive Media App Development Strategy New Media Marketing Enterprise for New Media New Media Operations Online Store Quality Assurance for Interactive Media
NOTE: As part of your application, please note the specific instructional areas from the list above for which you have teaching experience and industry expertise. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma or degree in a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum five years of experience in New Media Design and Web Development. Demonstrated industry success and appropriate and current experience and skills in the instructional areas noted above. Experience in post-secondary teaching and student evaluation skills, over a range of instructional areas noted above. Ability to prepare, deliver and administer relevant and applied course material, including effective coaching and assessment of students, in a manner that promotes learner motivation and successful acquisition of skills and knowledge. Excellent communication and interaction skills, both oral and written. Flexible, creative and enthusiastic presentation approach and ability to deliver interactive and experiential sessions.
