As a Decedent Care Specialist at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery you will have the opportunity to provide outstanding customer service to the families we serve through respectful decedent care and expert embalming services.

Chapel Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery is a state-of-the-art funeral home and reception facility that opened in 2018 with easy access to the highway. Chapel Lawn has grown and continues to grow at an exponential rate since its inception. We have the distinct honour and privilege of serving more than 650 families annually.

Job Type:  Full Time, Permanent

Key Qualifications and Demonstrated Abilities:

Possess an Embalmer’s License or Dual Funeral/Embalmer License. Minimum 3 years’ experience as a licensed Embalmer. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team. Excellent attention to detail and consistently high level of accuracy. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Strong customer service skills with the ability to partner will all levels of the organization. Exemplify Arbor’s values of compassion, integrity, trust, teamwork, belonging and excellence. Excellent knowledge of Funeral Home procedures and business practices including, Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and Funeral Home Procedures Manuals. Valid Driver’s License. 

Responsibilities:

Arranging the transfer of the decedent from the place of death and/or going to place of death and performing the transfer. Ensuring proper identification of decedents by checking institutional documentation and applying the Arbor identification bracelet.  Preparing the decedent according to the wishes of the survivors and requirements of the law including transferring the decedent from stretcher to preparation table, washing, arterial and cavity embalming or basic preparation. Clothing the decedent and transferring the decedent from the preparation table to casket. Maintaining the preparation room by performing sanitation and organization activities, cleans and maintains linens and ensures inventory such as chemical, sundry and personal protective equipment within the preparation room is maintained. Completing purchase orders for required inventory and submitting to management for approval.  Completing and maintaining all related documentation, including but not limited to embalming reports and decedent logs. Arranging the transfer of the decedent to and from the crematorium.  Ensuring all legal and ethical requirements are communicated to the staff and fully adhered to. May be required to work outside of regular business hours.
