Join Our Healthcare Team in Central Alberta Work in an interdisciplinary environment where you have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of patients As one of our casual pharmacists in Central Zone South you will collaborate with the client, physician and interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care. Central Zone South Pharmacy supports 15 rural hospitals and care centers in Central Alberta. Our facilities include a range of acute care rural general medicine, surgical patients, palliative care as well as continuing care. This position’s current home site is the Lacombe Hospital which supports acute care beds primarily focused on rural general medicine and 72 continuing care beds and an active emergency department. This position will provide remote coverage to other sites within Central Zone South and the home site position is negotiable with the successful candidate. This position will be eligible to provide in person coverage to nearby sites within Central Zone South as well. Exact sites to be covered will be discussed with the successful candidate and you will receive training at each location. We provide a supportive, multidisciplinary environment for a pharmacist, where pharmacists are an integral member of the health care team at all of our sites in Central Zone South. The Central Zone South Pharmacy team is bolstered by a dedicated group of pharmacy technicians and assistants working towards their full scope of practice. Description:

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. In addition, you will provide assessment, intervention and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP). Successful candidates not having APA will be expected to obtain it within 6 months of commencing in this position.Pharmacy related experience in a hospital setting or in direct patient care providing comprehensive medication management services.Recent experience as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team.Experience with computerized medication order entry, and different drug distribution systems such as unit dose.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated self-directed learning and continuing education.Demonstrated good time management including ability to switch priorities and multitask.Demonstrated excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, good organizational and problem-solving skills.Self-motivated; able to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment.Rural hospital experience an asset
