Opportunity Overview:

Central Zone South Pharmacy serves 15 rural hospitals and care facilities, providing a diverse range of services including acute care, surgical interventions, palliative support, and ongoing care. Your primary location will be at a facility that focuses on general medicine and continuing care, with the flexibility to cover additional sites as needed. Training will be provided at each location to ensure you are well-prepared for your responsibilities. Our environment fosters teamwork, with pharmacists playing an essential role in the healthcare team across all sites. The pharmacy team is supported by dedicated pharmacy technicians and assistants, all striving to operate within their full scope of practice. Role Responsibilities:

In the role of Pharmacist I, you will oversee the safe, effective, and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. Your responsibilities will include managing medication therapy for patients, both at the outset and on an ongoing basis. You will also be tasked with assessing, intervening, and resolving any potential or actual drug-related issues, in addition to supervising activities related to compounding and packaging medications.

Essential Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
- Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

Additional Qualifications:

- Additional Prescribing Authorization (APA) from the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP). Candidates without APA will be expected to obtain it within six months of starting in this role.
- Experience in a hospital setting or direct patient care, providing comprehensive medication management services.
- Recent experience as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Familiarity with computerized medication order entry and various drug distribution systems, such as unit dose.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Demonstrated commitment to self-directed learning and ongoing education.
- Proven time management skills, including the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong interpersonal abilities and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Experience in a rural hospital setting is considered an asset.
