What you’ll do

Identify program and cross-program clinical education and knowledge translation needs and priorities in working collaboratively with program leaders, expert clinicians and researchers, health facility administrators, educators, and health care professionals. Plan, implement, and evaluate strategies to meet those needs either individually or as leader of a team. Establish and monitor appropriate knowledge translation and evaluation frameworks (outcome measures and quality assurance strategies) in cooperation with Provincial Leads, Provincial Medical Directors and provincial partners. Provide consultation to PSBC staff, regional health authorities and other stakeholders regarding clinical education needs and issues to promote quality clinical education practice and staff development. Initiate and participate in quality improvement and knowledge translation initiatives and provide support for the development of outreach education initiatives or conferences aligned with organizational, provincial, and program priorities. Teach, facilitate and coordinate outreach initiatives. Work with other organizations and Health Authorities to plan and achieve expected outcomes related to regulatory and/or provincial requirements pertaining to maternal and newborn care. Maintain and share expert knowledge of current trends in education and health care by reviewing literature, attending relevant conferences/continuing education, liaising with external organizations and members of professional associations, staff, and colleagues, and keeping abreast of educational technologies and applications.

Qualifications

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree in nursing, education or an applicable discipline plus a minimum of five (5) years recent related work experience clinical perinatal experience, healthcare quality improvement and knowledge translation) required. Individuals with a postgraduate degree (nursing, medicine, public health, PhD in a related discipline) may be preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

Knowledge and experience in development of Knowledge Translation theories, principles and practice. Demonstrated ability in developing educational tools and documents with a focus on perinatal care. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with individuals at all levels, both internal and external to PHSA. Demonstrated ability in leading change, inspiring and engaging others, and promoting innovation; ability to build and maintain effective relationships. Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills including the ability to present information in concise and meaningful ways. Demonstrated ability to establish courses of action for self and others that are results oriented. Knowledge of and experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019). As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities of settler colonialism on Indigenous Peoples and familiarity with addressing Indigenous-specific anti-racism, anti-racism and Indigenous Cultural Safety and foundational documents and legislative commitments (The Declaration Act, the Declaration Action Plan, TRC, IPS, Remembering Keegan, etc.).
