Description

The Analyst in the Finance Department is responsible for developing a program to report KPIs and performance metrics, support data driven business decisions, and comparisons to both internal trending and benchmarking data. They will collaborate with other departments to ensure consistency and accuracy of the overall performance program. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for turning data into actionable insights.

Key Activities and Responsibilities:

Work with cross functional teams to ensure accurate performance metrics are designed and maintained for both operations and commercial areas within the Heartland business unit Developing reports & dashboards that will be used to communicate the status of our key performance indicators (KPIs) and help drive a data- driven decision-making process  Assist in financial and operations report development and maintenance of key business unit reports Perform statistical and econometric analysis on market trends and business processes Support special projects to analyze and report on new operations, commercial, and business opportunities  Act as a key contact for benchmarking program and be the technical subject matter expert with regards to all aspects of the benchmarking program Work closely with HPC forecasting to support regular business review; leverage organizational data through analytics projects and modelling to derive data-driven insights and recommendations leading to organizational improvements Conducting baseline data discovery on structured and unstructured data and support the prioritization of results discussions with leadership 

Education, Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree or MBA is a plus. 3-5 years of experience in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, performance benchmarking, or a similar analytical role, preferably within the finance department of a medium to large-sized company. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced modeling skills. Experience with financial planning software (e.g., SAP, Hyperion, Anaplan) is a plus. Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and data analysis techniques. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and provide clear recommendations. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present data and insights to non-financial stakeholders. High attention to detail and accuracy in work. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in scenario planning and financial modeling, specifically related to a benchmarking program. Understanding of financial statements and key financial metrics.

Location and schedule: 

The position is Calgary based, office work 5 days a week Monday to Friday, 40 hour per week.
