This role will be responsible for buying goods and services such as software, hardware, ground infrastructure, and technical services in support of operational needs and projects, including Telesat Lightspeed, Telesat’s state-of-the-art network of highly advanced satellites in low earth orbit that will seamlessly integrate with terrestrial networks. This position works closely with other functional stakeholders to provide the 5 R’s of procurement, the right quality product, delivered in the right quantity, to the right place, at the right time, for the right price. The ideal candidate has procurement experience and is eager to be an integral part of a fast-paced and dynamic environment to enable Telesat’s growth.
Main Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of corporate policies and purchasing processes in order to mitigate potential risks to the corporation in the execution of the procurement cycles of planning, sourcing, contracting and supply chain management. Determine optimal method of sourcing organization’s requirements using competitive tendering arrangements, direct or sole source suppliers. Create vendor records, manage purchase requisitions or quotes, and prepare, place and document orders as required. Identify any risks, communicate them to internal stakeholders and recommend mitigation strategies such that appropriate decisions are made regarding the choice of suppliers and products. Ensure suppliers and purchase orders accurately meet Telesat project requirements. Monitor supplier performance and expedite contract deliverables as well as action changes and maintain purchase orders status based on name change, expiry or renewal or other factors. Demonstrate effective financial stewardship through budget monitoring and ongoing cost reduction goal setting to deliver value. Seek out continuous improvements to procurement related systems and processes. Establish, foster, and maintain good working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders from all operating units within Telesat.
Education & Experience
University degree in a relevant discipline such as Commerce, Finance, or Engineering OR a college degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or Administration One to three years experience working in supply chain or procurement, ideally in complex technology-based environment A professional designation in Procurement (e.g., CSCMP) is desirable but not mandatory

Capacity to manage time in a fast-paced environment with occasionally overlapping priorities to meet or exceed requirements and expectations. Detail oriented, highly motivated and results-focused. Able to work independently as well as collaboratively part of a team Bilingual in English and French an asset (but not required). The successful candidate must be able to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
