Securiguard is seeking a passionate and experienced Control Centre Supervisor to join our campus security team. Join us in this elite role where your vigilance and dedication contribute to the overall safety and success of our Campus partner.

NATURE AND SCOPE

The incumbent works a nominal 40-hour week, normally Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM however may be required to work at other times including evenings and weekends as dictated by operational requirements or as directed by the Manager.

The Control Centre Supervisor provides indirect supervision of four Control Centre Operators by ensuring staff compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, policy, procedures and directives as required of their position and as established by the College and London Police Service. The incumbent is responsible for screening prospective Control Centre Operators by conducting aptitude testing and interviews to determine suitability and selecting the best qualified candidates to fill operational needs. In cooperation with the Department Training Officer, the Control Centre Coordinator is responsible for developing and conducting intake, in-service and other training for Control Centre Operators consistent with operational need and to ensure all Control Centre Operators are fully competent in the execution of their assigned duties,monitoring, testing and evaluating the performance of newly hired Control Centre Operators to determine suitability and recommending or opposing permanent placement on completion of the probationary period, conducting annual performance reviews with Control Centre Operators and establishing individual development goals and objectives to maintain continuous performance improvement, directing and briefing Control Centre Operators on all operational matters and procedures, ensuring the submission and completion of appropriate reports and documentation and ensuring they meet standard with respect to content and quality, ensuring all Control Centre activity is in compliance with statutory requirements, college policy, department directives, operating procedures, and applicable agreements, ensuring the appropriate and responsible use of Control Centre resources and equipment, determining operational priorities of the Control Centre and reacting to all matters on an appropriate basis, maintaining the currency and accuracy of all reference material related to the Control Centre including notification lists, manuals and other documents, conducting daily audits of dispatch and occurrence records, preparing and distributing monthly and annual occurrence statistics reports and for the preparation of other statistical reports as required by department and college administrators, ensuring procedures are in place for the proper response to all anticipated emergency situations including mechanical failures, floods, fires, personal emergencies and major crimes, and that all Control Centre Operators are fully familiar with these procedures and fully competent to carry out all duties contained in these procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Canadian citizenship or be a permanent resident of Canada.
  • Certificate in Emergency Communications from a Community College or equivalent specialized training or work experience.
  • No criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted and have no criminal charges pending before the court.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written including the ability to obtain and convey pertinent information quickly and accurately.
  • The ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor while dealing with a wide variety of unusual and rapidly changing situations.
  • The ability to respond quickly and appropriately under stressful conditions.
  • A high degree of familiarity with provincial and federal laws, college policy as well as procedures and directives as required of their position and as established by the College and London Police.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • The ability to work independently, without direct supervision as a member of a team.
  • Familiarity with public safety radio procedures and protocols including multi channel/band and telecommunications interconnects.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

In addition to these minimum requirements, preference will be given to candidates who:

  • Have exemplary experience in any field of customer service
  • Have previous security related experience
  • Possess well developed and current computer and related technical skills including advanced competency in the following computer software applications:
  • Windows NT, Windows Vista, MS Office applications, Netscape/Communicator/Explorer, D3 or similar records management system
  • Familiarity with C.P.I.C., P.A.R.I.S. and I.R.I.S. procedures and protocols.
  • Have advanced working knowledge of current dispatch software systems including Protégé, D3, SIMS, C*CURE, BOSCH video, Omni Cast and Dictaphone.
  • Ability to perform advanced computer hardware diagnostics and trouble shooting.
