The Lead, Clinical Assessment Education is responsible for identifying, designing and delivering educational programs, eLearning, resources and tools using a variety of approaches that align with adult learning principles and facilitate performance-based learning.

Here is what you will be doing:  

The responsibilities of the Clinical Assessment Education Lead are as follows:

Conduct and facilitate training sessions via train the trainer on interRAI clinical assessment instruments (coding and outcomes) in a variety of formats for users in child and youth community mental health (CMH) and additional stakeholders as requested

Conduct and facilitate training sessions for the Ontario Common Assessment of Need (OCAN) in a variety of formats for users in adult community mental health (CMH)

Conduct and facilitate training, including training sessions via train the trainer, for the provincial assessment platform (AcuteNet), and provincial assessment competency platform (Relias) solutions for users in CMH and additional stakeholders as requested

Provincial subject matter expert for applications used by CMH and their partners, examples include (not limited to): interRAI assessment instruments, OCAN, Relias

Play a lead role in the development and production of education tools for use by a broad group of stakeholders, collaborating with multiple teams in content development

Responsible for creating/updating content using Instructional Design best practices. Deliverables (not limited to): presentations, instructor notes, online help, eLearning, videos, communications for bulletins, facilitators guides, user guides and job aids

Responsibilities specific to eLearning include: Shared ownership and maintenance of Relias LMS and Thinking Cap LMS with Leads, Clinical Assessment Education (CSS and HCCSS); Design effective, interactive, and engaging eLearning courses; Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.); Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course; Maintain project documentation and course folders; Write and produce audio scripts for voice talent; Use multimedia tools to produce and edit audio/visual elements for courses

Design and develop evaluation methods and tools to determine effectiveness of training.

Review session and training evaluations and work with the Director and education team to address quality improvement opportunities

Works with the Director to define objectives and standards, prioritize key activities, assign accountabilities, and develop deliverables

Lead or support Organizational Development initiatives (i.e., new employee training).

Leads consultations in the absence of the Manager

Lead the development of competency and proficiency standards and processes across assessment instruments used by CMH and partners.

Shared responsibility for managing and maintaining Relias release notes.

Responsible for independently executing operational activities such as: scheduling webinars, responding to inquiries, updating project schedules/statuses, updating training records, etc.

Lead a Community of Practice and participate in monthly teleconferences on FAQs, content/coding clarifications etc., to support CMH assessment educators

Provide backup training and education support for Community Support Services and Home and Community Care Support Services

Liaise with system partners e.g., CIHI, interRAI, Camberwell, internal OH staff etc. to support training and education

Participate in interRAI and OCAN research opportunities as they arise

Participate on Advisory tables/committees as required

Utilize project management strategies and tools to stay on track and communicate with stakeholders

Perform cross-functional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested

Mentor staff as needed

Contribute to organizational efforts and initiatives, as appropriate, to enhance Ontario Health’s mission, values, and goals

Here is what you will need to be successful:  

Education and Experience

Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Adult Education, Training, eLearning, Instructional Design or similar required or a Regulated Health Professional with a combination of experience in a similar role

Excellent knowledge of the health care system, with specific knowledge of the adult and child and youth mental health sector required

5 to 8 years’ experience delivering train the trainer or assessor education on interRAI instrument coding and outputs or OCAN required. Experience with the interRAI ChYMH required

5 to 8 years’ experience facilitating application/software training required

Experience leading education projects, including needs assessment and planning, delivering, and evaluating training programs required

Experience creating training materials such as: eLearning, PowerPoint presentations, instructional videos, end user guides/manuals etc. required

Hands-on experience developing instructional materials for Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Blackboard, Cornerstone, or Bridge required

Proficiency in eLearning authoring software (e.g., Camtasia, Articulate Rise/Storyline, Lectora) required

Proven work experience in instructional design processes, micro learning principles, and adult learning principles required

Knowledge and Skills

In depth knowledge of the OCAN instruments and their use on the individual, program and policy level required

In depth knowledge of interRAI assessment instruments and related applications and their use on the individual, program and policy level required

Knowledge of AcuteNet software preferred

Knowledge of the Thinking Cap LMS preferred

Knowledge of Relias preferred

Strong project management skills including the ability to work productively on multiple projects/courses simultaneously

Proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative team environment

Proven ability to analyze, evaluate and make recommendations for education based on Adult Learning principles

Strong written communication skills i.e., ability to write clearly and concisely with strong proof-reading skills required

Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle

Delivery of virtual and onsite training using principles of adult learning and appropriate facilitation and teaching styles required

Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and timelines

Proficient in Microsoft based work environment i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams

Self-motivated, curious, ability to work independently and in a team, demonstrated initiative and detail oriented

Positive attitude, excellent team player and have strong organizational and time management skills

Problem solving and critical thinking focused on identification of solutions and managing program logistics

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple, changing priorities and tight deadlines

Strong customer focus mindset
