Closing Date (MM/DD/YYYY): 07/16/2024

Are we right for you...

We’re passionate about people and creating sustainable, safe and affordable solutions to BC. We are an organization that has a People First approach and considers people first in every business decision that we make. We are part of the solution and what we do matters; from fighting climate change with battery electric buses, to affordability through cost effective transportation, to connecting remote communities, we bring the heart, soul and innovation to public transportation.

It’s an exciting time to be in the transit industry and we’re looking for creative and passionate people to join our team. Not only would you be joining an engaged organization, but you’d also get to enjoy flexible work arrangements, extended benefits and a pension plan as just a few of the benefits BC Transit employees are eligible for. Keep reading to find out if this role is meant for you

What you'll be doing...

Your typical day as a Data Analyst with the Enterprise Data & Analytics team could look like this. We work in sprints so you would start the day off connecting with the team at a morning standup and sharing how the week is going for you. We share ideas, make sure we have no blockers and make sure we’re moving forward as a team. After that the real fun starts. You could end up in a deep exploration of ridership data with Spark SQL. Or you could end up writing data engineering and QA pipelines in python pandas and polars to extract and transform data from our battery electric buses on its way to our Data Lakehouses.

After lunch we’ll start planning the next sprint and having technical discussions on how best to design and architect our data solutions, so that they meet the needs of our business, help us manage data as an enterprise asset and drive value for the people who ultimately ride our buses. And finally, you may end the day working on a PowerBI Report to visualize all your work and share the story you’ve crafted from those analytical insights with the rest of the business.

Along the way you’ll play a key role in shaping data culture, applying data product thinking and supporting key decisions with real impact to the lives of people in the communities we serve.
