Job Description

The Financial Services department provides financial stewardship and management services for the County, including financial support to all departments in the areas of accounting, finance, and budgeting.

We are looking for an Accounting Clerk – Cash Receipting to join our Cash Control department on a Temporary 12 month contract until June 2025. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Clerk – Cash Receipting is responsible for supporting our customer service department including cash batch review and processing, general ledger updates and coverage. If you have excellent customer service skills, a strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task in a busy office environment, you may be the right one to join our team

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Review and apply cash batches
  • General ledger updates and maintenance
  • Balancing and data entry into multiple computer systems
  • Administering, balancing, and replenishing floats and petty cash fund
  • Supporting other departments with their operations (including Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payables)
  • Supporting our Customer Service team including:

          - Answering telephone and front counter inquiries

          - Greeting, screening, and directing visitors

          - Establishing and maintaining positive relations with customers

          - Cash receipting and answering tax and utility account inquiries

          - Verifying accuracy of data entry - checking batches and spreadsheets

  • Performing other duties assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

  • Business or Accounting Diploma and two years related experience, or equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365
  • Data entry and customer service experience
  • Experience reviewing and posting cash batches
  • Previous customer relationship management experience
  • Experience working for a municipality an asset


Additional Information

This temporary full-time position is for 12 months from June to June 2025 and works 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Some additional hours may be required during tax season.

Hourly Pay: $37.76 to $44.42

This position will be posted until May 26th, 2024 at 11:59pm or until suitable candidate found.
