An opening exists in the Trade Division for the position of Account Manager, Library & Educational Retail Accounts reporting to the Sales Manager.

Work Location: This position works out of our Toronto downtown office located at 604 King St. West. Our team is currently splitting time in the office and at home. Expectation is that the office is this person’s primary work location, with flexibility for some days at home.

Primary Responsibilities

Selling and marketing all Scholastic Trade books to the library and educational retail market in Canada and US Managing our relationship with PGW, Ingram, Follett, Children’s Plus and other Library wholesalers in the US Developing and maintaining a strong working relationship with buyers, marketers, and other stakeholders in order grow business and develop new opportunities Leveraging expertise regarding the principles of inclusive language and communication in order to build strong relationships and foster a sense of inclusion amongst both internal and external stakeholders Identifying promotional and merchandising opportunities for libraries and library wholesalers to increase Scholastic’s presence as well as analyzing results and building upon successes Analyzing performance of front and backlist titles and programs using BNC Salesdata, library-specific tracking systems and internal systems and providing timely reports to key stakeholders Developing and maintaining a communication strategy whereby library wholesalers, libraries and educational retailers are apprised of new product and properties, advertising opportunities, promotions, displays, policies, specials, etc. Communicating effectively to internal partners regarding changes to accounts, trends in business, identify opportunities and competition and be prepared to recommend changes to improve business Acting as a children’s book expert and advocating for the library market

Qualifications

Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent relevant experience 3-4 years of sales, marketing, promotional and/or other relevant experience Fluent in French language would be considered an asset Must have a passion for children’s books and media Must have a robust understanding of the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion and is passionate about broadening representation of equity deserving communities within the Canadian media landscape Experience working with BNC Salesdata and Catalist Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (including PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams), and Google Suite (Google Slides, Drive) Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills Excellent organizational skills; must be driven, detail oriented with the ability to multitask effectively Must have the ability to adapt to changing priorities, problem solve effectively and work well in a deadline Must possess a valid driver’s license Willingness and ability to travel as required; some weekend/ evening work may be required on occasion
