Duties

: Conduct evidence-based psychological assessments, including comprehensive diagnostic assessments and assessments for suitability for short-term treatment Conduct risk assessment, crisis intervention plans for suicidality, self-harm, or other safety risks Administer and interpret standardized psychological assessment instruments for diagnostic and progress monitoring purposes Provide individual, group psychotherapy and consultation for individuals with Mood and Anxiety Disorders following best practice and evidence based interventions Experience providing a range of evidence based therapies including CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, IPT and other evidence-based therapies for mood and anxiety disorders, and trauma related disorders. Advocate, liaise and consult with interdisciplinary teams, relevant community agencies and service providers Engage client, family, and significant others in the clinical interventions and risk reduction strategies with the clinical team. Experience providing clinical services via telemedicine or other virtual platforms. Participate in academic activities including: supervision of pre-doctoral residents in psychology, practicum studentsin psychology, and non-registered psychology staff, and provision of professional consultation to members of other disciplines, teach medical interns and residents Attend Psychology discipline meetings and participate in discipline activities Participate in peer consultation, education, teaching, and supervision of students from health related disciplines Demonstrate leadership in development of an independent program of clinically-oriented research including successful applications for peer-reviewed grant proposals, in alignment with The Royal strategic goals and the Program’s objectives Lead, design and participates in program evaluation (evaluation research), in alignment with The Royal strategic goals and Program objectives Demonstrates professional integrity through adherence to college and hospital guidelines for the practice of psychology, including; adherence to the Canadian Code of Ethics for psychologists, adherence to College of Psychologists of Ontario guidelines for registration, professional practice, professional development, supervision, communications and documentation of client contacts, as well as adherence to The Royal’s policies on timely completion of documentation and workload measurement and other related data collection as required. Designs individualized treatment plans based on assessed needs in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team Completes comprehensive discharge reports with follow up recommendations Commitment to continuous quality improvement, best practices and teamwork. Keeps current of hospital policies and procedures and applicable legislation. Keeps up to date regarding professional standards by reviewing current literature, attending educational events, networking with colleagues, etc. Provides educational presentations to community groups. Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, time management, planning and evaluation skills Demonstrated ability to work independently, and within a multidisciplinary team environment, participating in treatment team consultations Experience working in an interdisciplinary service delivery model is mandatory. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and organizations skills Demonstrated excellent attendance Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal. Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment, & Discrimination Free Workplace Policy Qualifications: Doctorate from a CPA/APA Accredited Clinical Psychology Program Registered or Eligible for Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario, with authorized areas of practice in Clinical Psychology, and authorized client population with Adults is mandatory Minimum of Five years of experience in clinical mental health setting, with at least 2 years experience of demonstrated competency working with individuals with following disorders: Depressive Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Bipolar and Related Disorders, Obsessive- Compulsive Disorders, Trauma and Stressor Related Disorders, Substance Related disorders The candidate must have competency to perform the Controlled Act of Psychotherapy and experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), EMDR or other modalities (depending on the needs of the program) Knowledge of relevant legislation including but not limited to, The Mental Health Act, The Substitute Decisions Act, The Health Care Consent Act, and The Personal Health Information Protection Act. Demonstrated competency in delivering evidence based treatment in both individual and group formats. Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting and to communicate and collaborate in an inter-professional team context are essential Knowledge of mental health best practices, community services, and crises response. Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and practices Effective mentoring and clinical supervision skills to support both early career practitioners and learners Person-centered approach. Knowledge of conflict resolution. Experience with recovery based programs for severe and persistent mental illness is required. Commitment to continuous quality improvement, best practices and teamwork. Excellent communication skills, organizational ability, critical thinking and goal-setting skills. English level A- is mandatory in oral comprehension, expression, reading, and writing. Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset. Salary Range: 61.50 to 79.75 per hour
