The Royal’s Mood and Anxiety Program offers evidence-based services consistent with best practice and quality standards to clients with severe and persistent mood and anxiety disorders. The program is a specialty multidisciplinary unit of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Nurses. Treatment services are offered to individuals with complex mood and anxiety conditions including, depressive disorders, bipolar and related disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive
- The focus of psychology in the program is on the delivery compulsive and related disorders and trauma
- stressor related disorders.

The focus of Psychology in the program is on the delivery of empirically supported treatments, with emphasis on cognitive behaviour therapies. Psychologists within our program will also develop, deliver, and evaluate the outcomes of high quality client centered care. Psychologists play a key role in improving access to appropriate services now through the provision of consultation, training and dissemination of evidence-based practice to other professionals and for the future through participation in clinical training and supervision of next generation of Psychologists within our accredited psychology-training program.

**Duties**:

- Conduct evidence-based psychological assessments, including comprehensive diagnostic assessments and assessments for suitability for short-term treatment
- Conduct risk assessment, crisis intervention plans for suicidality, self-harm, or other safety risks
- Administer and interpret standardized psychological assessment instruments for diagnostic and progress monitoring purposes
- Provide individual, group psychotherapy and consultation for individuals with Mood and Anxiety Disorders following best practice and evidence based interventions
- Experience providing a range of evidence based therapies including CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, IPT and other evidence-based therapies for mood and anxiety disorders, and trauma related disorders.
- Advocate, liaise and consult with interdisciplinary teams, relevant community agencies and service providers
- Engage client, family, and significant others in the clinical interventions and risk reduction strategies with the clinical team.
- Experience providing clinical services via telemedicine or other virtual platforms.
- Participate in academic activities including: supervision of pre-doctoral residents in psychology, practicum students in psychology, and non-registered psychology staff, and provision of professional consultation to members of other disciplines, teach medical interns and residents
- Attend Psychology discipline meetings and participate in discipline activities
- Participate in peer consultation, education, teaching, and supervision of students from health related disciplines
- Lead, design and participates in program evaluation (evaluation research), in alignment with The Royal strategic goals and Program objectives
- Demonstrates professional integrity through adherence to college and hospital guidelines for the practice of psychology, including; adherence to the Canadian Code of Ethics for psychologists, adherence to College of Psychologists of Ontario guidelines for registration, professional practice, professional development, supervision, communications and documentation of client contacts, as well as adherence to The Royal’s policies on timely completion of documentation and workload measurement and other related data collection as required.
- Designs individualized treatment plans based on assessed needs in conjunction with the interdisciplinary team
- Completes comprehensive discharge reports with follow up recommendations
- Commitment to continuous quality improvement, best practices and teamwork.
- Keeps current of hospital policies and procedures and applicable legislation.
- Keeps up to date regarding professional standards by reviewing current literature, attending educational events, networking with colleagues, etc.
- Provides educational presentations to community groups.
