Accountant - Senior
$78,000 + depending on experience.
Do you want to work for a company that creates infrastructure solutions that enable a safer, more efficient, and sustainable world.Our client in Smiths Falls is a leader in their industry for highly engineered products and technology and they make this happen by developing their workforce with communication and constant support.As the Senior Accountant, you will work under the direction of the Controller and contribute to the financial success and growth of the company by ensuring accurate financial reporting to support decision making, planning, and control processes. What we offer:Competitive and performance-based compensation with bonus eligibility.Day shift Monday to Friday – 8 hours work Flexible between 7:30-5pmEducational assistance, Leadership development programsRecognition programsWhat you do:Compile and analyze financial information for the preparation of general ledger entries.Prepare analyses of account reconciliations and ensure proper controls of general ledger activity.Perform month-end and yearly close procedures, including balancing and submitting financial information.Act as a Sarbanes Oxley Auditor, assisting in internal and external audits and preparation of PBC schedules.Provide financial support for forecasting, budgeting, and analyzing variations from budget.Generate periodic ad hoc financial reports.Cost Management and ControlResponsible for cost tracking, forecasting, and budgeting, including purchase price variance, absorption, and fixed and variable expenses.Ensure accuracy of standard costs and establish labor and overhead rates.Implement and monitor a highly accurate inventory management control system, including cycle counting and reconciliations.Work with the Controller to establish and maintain a precise purchasing control system.Prepare appropriate data for monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax provisions.Update and document accounting control procedures.Assist with cross-training, development, and continual improvement of company policies and procedures.Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.Participate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization.Who You Are:Bachelor’s degree in accounting or financerequired.Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience in public and/or manufacturing accountingProficient in US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley / internal controlsPrior experience in and understanding of accounting for a manufacturing company.Cost accounting experience is a plus.Effective organizational skills, including following up on his/her own needed actions.Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skillsProficient in Microsoft Excel including data management.OneStream and/or SAP experience a plusAdept problem-solving skills and analytical abilityDrake International is here to change your road to work.
