Description

The Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the implementation and oversight of DXP Canada's safety policies and practices, fostering a safe work environment for all employees. This office-based position reports directly to the OH&S Manager and is responsible for coordinating, tracking, and supporting safety programs, systems, and training initiatives. The OH&S Administrator collaborates with various managers to ensure their awareness of Governmental Legislation and Health and Safety Acts while overseeing their access to relevant information.

Employment Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with the availability of afternoons/weekends on a rotational basis as required

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with all managers to ensure their understanding of Governmental Legislation and Health and Safety Acts and facilitate their access to this crucial information. Maintain Occupational Health & Safety Administrative processes and programs to ensure compliance with safe work practices. Support the review and revision of health and safety policies, procedures, and forms to uphold a culture of safety. Provide assistance in incident investigations and offer readily available support to the Safety Manager as needed. Analyze and act on hazard analysis trend information from Incident Statistical Data reports to develop effective hazard mitigation response plans. Engage in and track Pre-employment, Post-Incident, and Reasonable Cause - Substance Screening for all personnel. Track incidents, including first aid, medical aid, and near misses, for comprehensive company statistical data analysis. Manage and calculate Health & Safety Data from incident occurrences. Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual Statistic Incident Data reports for Senior Executive management. Monitor safety inbox and promptly respond to emergencies that may occur after hours, as directed occasionally. Assist with pre-qualifications for Health and annual Occupational Health & Safety Statistical Data. Act as the logistical coordinator for External COR & Internal Maintenance Audits. Support auditing compliance and conduct audits as assigned. Collaborate with operations staff to ensure timely completion of monthly facility and shop inspections. Promote a Safe and Healthy workplace by engaging with all operational staff, supervisors, and support staff to monitor compliance and achieve quarterly health & safety performance objectives. Collect and enter data into external databases, including IS Net, ComplyWorks, Veriforce, Avetta. Provide oversight in the management of the Work Hub safety portal. Coordinate and schedule pre-employment testing as needed for new recruits.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma, GED, or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Diploma/Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Health Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant Occupational Health and Safety experience. Strong working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and policy in various Canadian jurisdictions. Local to the Calgary area Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to establish strong collaborative working relationships in both leadership and team member roles. Ability to influence and collaborate with management, staff, and contractors to foster improved safety behaviors and culture in a non-confrontational manner. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, IS Net, ComplyWorks, Veriforce, Avetta and other computer applications.
